It's been one busy year for Pike Lake Forge!

Firstly, we moved into a new homestead this spring that's been in the family since the 1920's when Carols great-great Grandparents built  it. So we have been blessed but also have been swamped getting the place winterized.

Now SUrprise! PLF built a new blacksmith shop on our land thanks to the hard work of Carols Dad! Carols Godfather Randy donated some aluminum pipe, her uncle Bruce a nice door and Voila! We've begun moving into the shop.

There's still a lot of work to be done (wiring, insulating..) but it'll be one heck of a shop! thanks Dad!

Hopefully we'll be settled by Christmas so we can have you out for a studio tour!

Some Tough Decisions in a Busy Season...

Regretfully Pike Lake Forge has to pull out of Art in Bayfront Park down in Duluth, MN.
It's been a hurdle we want to overcome, but it's simply not feasible at this early stage in our business. We've been prepping, trying to get all the paperwork in check and there's simply much more required (and money too) than anticipated. So maybe in the future, we can plan to do a bit of a tour down south when we go - I think it's the only way we can make money after bringing our metalwork over the border.

On a positive note, we're super busy! Which is great! So this choice frees up our time to focus on some things... such as the Algoma Street proposal for a sculptural piece. We're in the finalist round! Come and check out our maquette at Buskers Fest! There's a lot more going on than that... Carol also has a show with friend Susan Kachor-Conlon this Fall at the Thunder Bay Art Gallery.

Below is a door knocker Carol began while attending North House Folk School this past week with Tom Latane:

Well, best be getting creative!
See you at the Hymer's Fall Fair!
