The homestead was in the family for over 100 years, until now.

Here's a photograph of Pike Lake - the homestead where my Great-great grandfather raised Mummu (seen below). Mummu would have been 95 years old on Feb. 11th, and we miss her dearly since her passing just over a year ago.

One of the last things she said was "Keep Pike Lake Alive".
I grew up a paddle boat away and a few family members have property near by. including my sister, father and his aunt. Sad news is, the homestead is likely to be sold soon to someone outside of the family. The homestead has been in the family for over 100 years and in the blink of an eye, it will be gone. Pike Lake Forge is named in honour of Mummu and our family.  It is our attempt to keep Pike Lake and its history alive. Our name allows us to carry Pike Lake and Mummu in our hearts, no matter where we are.

In highschool art class I created this small copper repousse image of the homestead, before the addition. (circa 2003).

For the past year or so, I've been dreaming of creating a sculptural art project, depicting Mummu with her content smile sitting below the beautiful Pike Lake pines.  With this news of the homestead selling, the desire grows stronger.
